Tulamben is on the North East coast of Bali a couple of hours by road from Nusa Dua. The dive sites are beach entry. One of the jewels of Bali, and a truly world-class dive site.World famous for the USS Liberty shipwreck and the amazing variety of marine life found there. And Tulamben has a rich diversity of macro critters in the world. There are easy shore dives which suit every level of diver, also the resort is a beautiful and relaxing place after diving.
Tulamben is the best Wreck is directly situated near the beach on Bali's northeast coast. The 125m long and 16.6 meters wide wreck rests in a 90 degree angle with the deck facing the sea side and used to be an American supply ship named „USA Liberty". Anchored off the coast of Lombok, the ship was torpdoed by the Japanese submarine I-66 (which became later I-166) on January 11 1942., where it was unloaded. In 1963 the volcano Agung erupted and the magma flow pressed the ship back into the sea. Since then, coral covered the wreckage completely and turned it into a home for many species of fish.
THE DROP OFF
One the eastern side the bay at tulamben is a steep reef and wall that can be reached simply by swimming out from beach, and then a more gentle coral-covered slope make this a very satisfying dive. Giant Gorgonian Fans & giant Barrel Sponges. A good place to see Octopus & Cuttlefish, adult Lionfish, Rays and a big mean-looking Barracuda. The wall carries all the way down to 40+ M.
BATU KELEBIT & ALAMANDA
Around the Headland from Tulamben are several site that can be reached By Boat.both Batu kelebit and Alamanda offer intresting Under water Landscapes with A mix. Lots of big Triggerfish, Sweetlips, Midnight Snapper and colourful Clownfish & Angelfish. Big pelagics & Sharks. Access just a few minutes by traditional boat from Tulamben itself. This long stretch of coast is all diveable so you can take multiple dives along here.
